Reinoldas' Dream

It is so good to see the greatest children’s dreams coming true. We are smiling today, because the dream of our little friend Reinoldas has finally come true. There is a new inhabitant living in his home – a sweet, soft and friendly Burmese kitten named Panda. The story of how this dream came true took us all by surprise and allowed us to see that the wonderful kindness of people can create real, indescribable, Miracles.

 

Reinoldas’ mother Asta tells us the story of the kitten Panda:

 

One night little Reinoldas asked:

– Does little Naglis have a sister?

I told him he did not.

– What about a brother?

– No brother either.

– So what does Naglis have?

– He has a kitten named Panda, - I replied.

– I want a kitten named Panda, too.

 

This is how the search of a kitten Panda began. We didn’t know which breed would be the best for our little Reinoldas, and our time for searching was limited. But once I unintentionally unveiled about it to our greatest guardian angel – Rugutė’s Edita. Those accidental words were enough. In the evening we already knew the name of a perfect breed for us – Burmese cat. But the most important news was that the fund Rugutė offered to make this wish come true. We immediately began the kitten search on the internet, because we wanted to have Panda running around our house before Reinoldas’ return from the hospital.

 

…a couple of phone calls was enough to hear the very sweet voice of Natalija who asked us to wait for one week before we could select a cat, because one of the two kittens they had was supposed to have been reserved for someone else. These conditions were fine with us, because the most important thing was to make Reinoldas’ wish come true.

 

We had a great time trying to pick one of the two kittens (a male and a female) only by looking at their photographs. Reinoldas’ sister and dad voted for the male kitten, mom – for the female, Edita – for the male, Naglis’ mom Neringa – for the female, Linas – for the male, Aurelijus’ mom Aušra – for the male. The majority won. It was enough to tell Natalija our voting results to get our kitten. We were looking forward to see him, talked about him a lot, and everybody around us knew that a new inhabitant Panda was about to arrive soon.

 

As soon as Reinoldas was released from the hospital, we all went to visit the kitten and his masters. The whole weekend was dedicated for discussions about the kitten’s long tail, his soft fur and silent meaowing… we immediately fell in love with this little creature.

 

We were most touched and surprised, however, when on Saturday afternoon we got a phone call from Natalija informing us that she and her husband had decided to give us the kitten for Reinoldas, as their special gift, proving how many wonderful, sensitive and generous people live around us.

 

After three long weeks of waiting, last Sunday, the 15th of November, we brought our kitten, Panda, home. Since then all of us have been overwhelmed by emotions. We still fight over who will be sharing the bed with the kitten. Reinoldas does not want to leave Panda even for a minute, not even to go to the grocery store. We are truly enjoying this wonderful gift and this miracle that was given to our family. From all our hearts we want to thank Natalija and her husband (company LV*Malsan) for their true kindness and for making Reinoldas’ dream come true. We won’t be able to find the right words to express how much we appreciate the kitten that was given to the little Fighter, the kitten that filled his little heart with warmth and sincere child-like laughter.
