Povilas' Dream

Povilas had to return to the hospital and stay there for long months... But with your help we were able to fulfill the boy's dream to have a laptop computer.

 

Less than a month ago, on the 9th of April, Povilas celebrated his eleventh birthday. The oncologic disease, with which the boy was diagnosed in autumn of 2004, had retreated for several years.

 

On the 22nd of April, like lightning from the cloudless sky, the happiness of Povilas’s was once again threatened by the blood tests results. On the morning of the 23rd of April the diagnosis was confirmed at Vilnius University Children's Hospital. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia had returned.

 

As the disease progressed very quickly, the treatment was immediately started. In order to achieve the remission, the bone marrow transplantation was scheduled. The carefree childhood was left behind the ward doors... Rugutė Fund, supported by the kindness of your hearts and willingness to help the children with oncologic diseases, was able to fulfill Povilas‘ dream – to have a laptop – straight away. Now Povilas can communicate with his brother, friends and family. We hope that computer games, web pages for children and messages via the Internet will help to overcome very long hours spent at the hospital.
