At the time completely unfurnished Rugutė’s Home now meets its guests by enveloping them in its special comfort and warmth.

Childhood Cancer Fund Rugutė invites parents who lost their child to participate in regular meetings of the self-relief group, in which parents share their feelings, sufferings, and together try to find ways how to relieve the pain of their loss.

Julija’s Dream

One day in November we received a warm letter from Julija, revealing her biggest dream to have a special friend – a Beagle puppy. Julija wrote:

Hello, dear Elves of Rugutė,

This is Julija Rimkutė writing from Naujoji Akmenė. I am receiving treatment in Vilnius at the moment, at Children’s Oncohematology Division of Santariškės hospital. I am 14 years old. I have spent 10 past months in bed, fighting a malignant disease – rhabdomyosarcoma. I have a huge dream. I am dreaming about a little Beagle puppy. Besides being my best friend, he would also become a buddy to my little brothers. I am already imagining myself returning home from the hospital and being welcomed at the door by my puppy. The feeling would be indescribable. It would be something unreal. He would become my full-time buddy. So, dear Elves, if this wouldn’t cause too many difficulties, I would like to ask for a Beagle puppy for Christmas. Thank you very much for your efforts.

Unfortunately, we were not able to deliver this dream to Julija during our Christmas Journey. However, our hearts are full of joy, because the Great Fighter’s dream did come true, right after the holidays. It was exceptionally good to meet Julija and to find that the new little buddy brought endless joy to her family and gifted the girl with unforgettable moments, full of love.
