Swedish Attention to Lithuanian Children

Rugutė is so glad to meet people who turn out to be loyal friends for a lifetime, always offering the hand of goodness to the little children.

The Swede Bengt Nilsson, who sent Christmas gifts to Lithuanian children in the last two years and who invited them to participate in The Feast of Joy in Sweden last year, initiated one more beautiful idea – to allocate funds, raised during the annual Feast of St. Lucia, to Rugutė Fund.

This year Feast of St. Lucia started by a slideshow of pictures taken during the Christmas visit to Lithuania and Mr. Bengt Nilsson‘s speech, inviting to help Lithuanian children with oncological diseases.

Later on a spectacular light show started – 150 schoolchildren, dressed in white and carrying lit candles, came into the hall. Accompanied by music, they formed different shapes by candle lights. Later students of the local school played various songs. The feast ended by a joint candle light ceremony dedicated to Lithuanian children.

The funds, raised during the feast, 14597,07 LTL, have already reached Rugutė Fund.

We sincerely thank Mr. Bengt Nilsson and his family, the teacher Anita Larrson and all those who contributed to organizing the feast.
