Get-together of Vilnius Units of TS-LKD Holds Charity Event for Christmas

A few weeks ago, Parliament Member Mantas Adomėnas, Ph.D., who is also Chairman of the Get-together of Vilnius Units of party Tėvynės Sąjunga - Lietuvos Krikščionys Demokratai, gave us an unexpected phone call to inquire about possibilities to support fund Rugutė.

 

Later, we found out that the TS-LKD Get-together of Vilnius Units had invited people of the TS-LKD to attend the Christmas Charity Night and to purchase original, fun and interesting items and works of art in a charity auction they organized during the event. The evening program included the musicians Subtilu-Z and a thought-provoking speech of Robertas Šalaševičius, the Dean of Vilnius Cathedral.

 

During the charity auction, most of the participants paid great attention to a collection of 1970–1991 business cards donated by professor Vytautas Landsbergis, a TS-LKD T-shirt with an autograph of Chairman Andrius Kubilius, the porcelain tea cups reminding us of the election campaign of 2004, donated by Irena Degutienė, a coffee mill of 1920, donated by Mantas Adomėnas, and a documentary on the conference that established the TS party. Danutė Bekintienė’s mushroom cookbook and dried and pickled mushrooms, as well as the radiator that was used in protest campaigns against Gazprom, donated by Jaunųjų Konservatorių Lyga, were also properly noticed.

 

Many other personal items of great value were donated by Vilija Aleknaitė-Abramikienė, Arvydas Anušauskas, Julius Dautartas, Vincė Vaidevutė Margevičienė, Jurgis Razma, Egidijus Vareikis, Arvydas Vidžiūnas, Valdas Benkunskas, Evaldas Maceika, Viktorija Adomėnienė, Jovita Morkūnaitė, maestro Donatas Katkus, editor of the weekly Atgimimas Ridas Jasiulionis, and the Institute of Democratic Politics. – said Mantas Adomėnas, Ph.D., as he visited Rugutė’s Home.

 

In order to support children with oncological diseases, the amount of 8100 Lt, that was raised during the auction, was given to Childhood Cancer Fund Rugutė on the 23^rd of December, 2011.

 

The Christmas Charity Night has become a tradition of the TS-LKD Get-together of Vilnius Units. We organize it, wishing to remember the people whose holidays are overshadowed with uncertainty, and wishing to share the warmth and goodness of our hearts with them. I would like to thank all those who contributed to the implementation of our idea: the ones who participated in the auction, and the ones who donated their personal items. – said chairman Mantas Adomėnas, Ph.D, remembering the event.
