Visit of Mr. Clinton Misamore, Representative of Global Giving

On the 28^th of June we had a special guest from the United States of America. Mr. Clinton Misamore, a representative of the non-profit organization Global Giving , that unites charity projects around the world, visited the Childhood Cancer Fund Rugutė.

 

Back in 2010, Childhood Cancer Fund Rugutė went through a trial period and was allowed to submit projects via the international website www.globalgiving.org for indefinite time, seeking people to contribute to Rugutė, so that the Fund can better provide quality treatment and social care to sick Lithuanian children.

 

Childhood Cancer Fund Rugutė is the only organization in the Baltic States that currently raises funds for its projects via the Global Giving system. Only a few non-profit organizations in Eastern Europe belong to the Global Giving network today.

 

Mr. Misamore arrived to Lithuania to meet the heads of Childhood Cancer Fund Rugutė and to learn more about the activities of the fund. Having visited the premises of Rugutė’s Home, Mr. Misamore was interested in the fund’s history and the major sources of financial support. He learned about current and future events of Rugutė, and showed a sincere interest in the sick children that Rugutė takes care of. The guest also shared his knowledge on how to submit successful projects via the Global Giving website, so that Rugutė would receive more support from foreign sponsors, and he promised future cooperation between his organization and Rugutė.

 

We were very happy that Mr. Misamore was able to sacrifice an entire day of his precious time to attend our yearly event The Island of Friends. During the event Mr. Misamore had a unique opportunity to meet the large family of Rugutė, including the Captains and their parents, and the volunteers.
