The Island of Friends 2011

On the 3^rd of July, the ships of, both, little and big Captains, crossed the widest oceans and arrived at The Island of Friends for the sixth time.

 

It is the special day of the year, when we manage to smile even as the clouds above us are full of rain, because our hearts are warming each other. On this special day we know we will be able to defeat the storm, because our fellow Captains are holding our hands, and every little step we take together becomes a step towards strength, hope, faith and children’s smiles. Our sincere friendship is the sparkle that lights up the path we are taking together. We walk stronger and braver, because we know we are not alone.

Guests from United Kingdom – John and his little son Alex, and Alan and his daughter Abby – for opening their hearts to friendship and for the sincere attention we have been receiving from them.

Mr. Clinton Misamore, the representative of the organization Global Giving – for making time to have fun with our Great Fighters.

The landlords of Šešuolėliai Estate – for their care and warmth, and for the harbor that welcomes our Captains each year.

Priest Rimas Venckus and Priest Remigijus Monstvilas – for their words that turn into hope, and for being with us and giving us peace.

 

Asta, the host of the event – for her loyalty, and for enveloping our little children with love and care for the sixth time in a row.

 

Lyra, Gerūta, Julija and Julija’s mom – for their wonderful and mesmerizing sounds of music.

 

Rita Kiškūnaitė and Arūnas Pakulevičius, the actors of Šiauliai Puppet Theatre Avilys – for their performance Arklio Dominyko meilė, that spoke about loyal and loving friends, and for creating a warm atmosphere to the children.

 

Tomas Dobrovolskis, the composer and percussionist – for the music coming from his untraditional instruments.

 

Arvydas Stonys and Mantas Wizard, the illusionists – for their unique performance Miraculous Tours.

 

The music band Pikaso – for singing together with children.

 

Donatas Dubauskas (The Sleeping Bull) – for presenting the children with Native American culture and lifestyle, and for his delicious Native American bread.

 

The three lovely girl-clowns – Karolina, Santana and Dorotka – for every kind of help during the event, for their cute smiles, and for providing fun to the children.

 

The two young caricaturists, Milda and Vladimir – for drawing children’s portraits.

 

Company Atrakcionada – for their special interest in our Captains, and for their lasting friendship.

 

Stasys Križanauskas, the Director General of company Diamedica – for the care and consideration, and for continuously looking out for the welfare and safety of the children during the event.

 

Marina Kulčinskaja and the owners of company Zigra – for making the wooden Captain ships.

 

Company Eckes-Granini Lietuva – for the juice of every flavor, company Agrovet – for their meat production, and company Pobūviai Vilniuje – for their very fresh and delicious food that was selected with special consideration.

Urtė, Gabrielė, Viltė, Ksenija and Luka – for the new children’s friend, the Turtle, that will guide them until the next Island of Friends.

Linas – for the smiles, immortalized in photos, that prove that the Captains’ harbor is a warm, sunny and cozy place even when it rains.
