Experiences of the 11th group after coming back from the camp in Mallorca

During the 22nd and 29th of September 2018, Adas, Gintare, Erikas, Egidijus, and Tija had the opportunity to visit the sunny Mallorca. We cannot even believe ourselves that this is the 11th group of children who could relax at the cozy villa „Can Fanals“. Since the spring of 2015, when the project called „Rehabilitation camp in Mallorca for children who suffered from oncological illnesses“ had started, 57 children who suffered from oncological illnesses, 19 brothers and sisters, and 55 adults who acompanied the children had the opportunity to experience some of the most joyful emotions.

During the one week of camp children not only swimmed in the pool, catched wawes in the sea, rode a boat, had fun in the waterpark under the blue sky, but also get acquainted with the variaty of fish in the Palma Aquarium, visited caves of Arta, and walked around the old town‘s streets of Palma and Alcudia. Children even accepted the challenge from the previous group of children and climbed a mountain located near the villa.

On the warm evenings, when the joyful laughter of the children would get silent, the parents shared their experience from stays in the hospital, they talked about their emotional state when they had found out about the illness, and with which problems they face nowadays, after closing the hospital‘s door. Intimate and touching coversations let parents experience the sense of communion.

Unfortunately, Erikas could not experience the joy and fun of this vacation because of the unexpected trip to the hospital. We are certain that he will have another opportunity to enjoy the warm sea and get acquainted with the wonderful nature of Spain.

We asked children to reminisce the days filled with unforgetable impressions and new experiences:

Gintarė: Personally, every day for me was great in its own way. I still remember how happy I was to see a palm tree in real life! I loved the environment in which we lived, and that flamenco show on Sunday was unforgetable. It was fun to visit the Palma Aquarium. I liked fish Nemo, sea horses, Japanese carps and jellyfishes the most. The evening walks in the town were very relaxing after the whole day of activities. Rock of Alta left a huge impression and I am very happy that I had an opportunity to steer a boat! Not to mention climbing to the mountain and seeing the view from the top of it. Seems like a real fairy tale. It was a wonderful time with wonderful company. The last hours were the saddest because we had to say goodbye. Thank you!

Tija: I loved the trip to Mallorka. Each day was wonderful. I had some interesting and unbelievable expreriences there. I really loved riding a boat. It was lots of fun in the waterpark, too. Swimming in the sea, which I missed a lot, gave me a lot of joy. Not to mention the view, the weather and the wonderful company! The beauty of the villa is amazing, and the hosts are very warm and kind people. Edita and Dainoras, you are super! Your kind work is worth huge respect!!! Thank you very much for the wonderful adventure!

Egidijus: I loved the trip. Flying on a plane was not as scary as I had imagined. When we reached Mallorka I was amazed with everybody‘s genuine communication. I saw palm trees... They are unreal! Everything was wonderful – the sea, the rocks, the mountains, old town and my little friend Sarunas. THANK YOU for the opportunity to see and experience this. P. S. I would love to play everything back like a movie...

Adas (the boy shared this with his mom): Lots and lots of fun. I loved the pool the most. Waterpark, wawes in the sea. That I made friends with other kids. Climbing a mountain. At first I looked at the activities cautiously, but after a few minutes I loved every single one of it. I really loved everything very much. It was lots of fun. But I loved the pool the most.

Mother of Adas: I want to say a big THANK YOU for you and your team!!!! Thank you for the opportunity to have this amazing vacation with my son! I am grateful for having an opportunity to get warm in the sun, swim in salty water, see some fishes swimming, cry and laugh while feeling the gentle wind on my face! Therapy of nature really works!!! I received some good energy from the sea, the land, the mountains, the wind. A week has passed but I still feel weirdly good and I can‘t wrap my mind around the fact that it‘s cold here and the autumn is comming.

As always, we would like to say our most grateful words for Jurga and Fredrik Götlund.
We are sure that the attention and care You gave had a magical effect
on every child‘s physical and emotional state, helped them regain
their strenght and lifted up their spirits.

We are very grateful to Debora Morrison for great discounts in order for us tp experience the beauty of Palma Aquarium.

We say thank you to Alcudia Hidropark for the opportunity to enjoy water slides.

We say warm thank you to fund‘s volunteer Santana, who‘s help this time was invaluable.

In the name of children and their family, we say thank you for everybody supporting this project.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the smooth running of this trip.

Until next time!
