A Letter of Thanks from Little Hubertas and His Family

Thanks to all of your help and financial support from the government (covering the medical costs of the first treatment semester), little Hubertas has been receiving his primary treatment in Lausanne.

 

Doctors at the Jules Gonin Eye Hospital and the CHUV Hospital administered local chemotherapy procedures. The treatment was very effective and the tumors shrank, significantly improving Hubertas’ eyesight. Following the prognosis, then, we had hoped that the disease would recede due to the chemotherapy and, eventually, we would only have to carry out regular screenings and stabilizing procedures. Unfortunately, in spite of successful primary treatment, the disease has returned, so instead of starting precautionary treatment, we are carrying on with the intense treatment. All of our plans have changed now that the disease has pulled us into a fast-moving whirlpool. There are no more guesses about how long the treatment will take: it will last as long as it will be necessary. If the disease wins against certain methods of treatment, other, new, methods will be administered.

 

Our situation is favorable, because we are in good hands. The Swiss doctors have a great deal of experience and abundant medical supplies / options, and they can administer treatment methods that are not available in Lithuania.

 

We believe that we will be able to conserve at least partial eyesight for Hubertas. We are hoping that we will continue to be surrounded by caring people, and that we will continue to receive government support after the first semester is over.

 

We are very grateful for your support. Thanks to you we have been able to fight for Hubertas’ health. If our little Hubertas could talk, he would thank you in person.
